Vite replaced slower Webpack-based setups in my React projects. The ES module-based development server provided near-instant Hot Module Replacement during development — a practical difference that reduced the feedback loop from seconds to milliseconds when iterating on UI components.
2 / Where I Used It
In CheckMate, Vite handled the build pipeline for a project that included WebAssembly modules, Web Worker scripts, and TypeScript source files — a combination that required some custom configuration for worker bundling and WASM asset handling. The production build optimization produced significantly smaller bundles compared to equivalent Webpack configurations.
3 / Honest Scope
My Vite experience is primarily as a consumer of its defaults and a troubleshooter when custom asset types require configuration. I have not built Vite plugins or deeply customized its Rollup internals. For my use cases — React SPAs with TypeScript and occasional non-standard assets — Vite has been reliably fast and low-friction.
